Amendment to the New River Valley Hazard Mitigation Plan

The Pepper’s Ferry Regional Wastewater Treatment Authority (PFRWTA) is requesting public input on its proposed amendment to the New River Valley Hazard Mitigation Plan (NRVHMP). This amendment outlines the Authority’s hazard risks, operational vulnerabilities, and planned mitigation strategies designed to strengthen the resilience of wastewater infrastructure serving the City of Radford, Town of Dublin, Town of Pulaski, Pulaski County, and portions of Montgomery County.

About the Amendment

The proposed update includes:

  • Identification of hazards that may impact wastewater operations

  • Assessment of facility vulnerabilities and past hazard impacts

  • Mitigation goals and prioritized projects

  • Long‑term strategies to reduce risk and improve system reliability

Inclusion in the regional Hazard Mitigation Plan ensures PFRWTA remains eligible for FEMA Hazard Mitigation Assistance programs such as BRIC, HMGP, and FMA.
